About
Mother’s Den is a licensed child care and educational program in Anchorage, Alaska, serving families near Joint Base Elmendorf–Richardson (JBER). Founded in 2000 by owner and administrator Donna Kelliegh after a 1999 provisional licensing period, the program provides a structured yet flexible, play-based environment that supports growth at each child’s pace.
Designed for families working nontraditional schedules, Mother’s Den is licensed to operate 24/7 and currently offers extended hours from morning to midnight; it is closed on Sundays and is not offering overnight care at this time. The program emphasizes safety and supervision, with established policies and procedures to protect children’s health, well-being, and security.
Children receive healthy meals and snacks at no additional cost in accordance with USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) regulations through a sponsoring organization. The home-like setting fosters socialization, self-help skills, and confidence through center activities, social interaction, and interest-based learning. Mother’s Den values family partnerships and works with parents to provide reliable, high-quality care that aligns with each child’s needs.
