About
Rabbit Creek Preschool is a parent cooperative, non-profit preschool in Anchorage, AK, founded in 1976 and serving children ages 3–5. Families are central to the program: parents of three- to four-year-olds assist in the classroom three times per school year, and parents of four- to five-year-olds assist five times. Each class enrolls up to 20 children and is led by two teachers with at least one parent helper, maintaining approximately a 1:7 adult-to-child ratio.
The program supports social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development in preparation for kindergarten. A typical day features creative expression, pretend play, science and math exploration, building, books, circle time, sharing, snack, movement, and outdoor play. Rabbit Creek Preschool is one of only two parent cooperative preschools in Anchorage and operates as an affordable, non-profit program. The school does not discriminate on the basis of gender, marital status, pregnancy, parenthood, race, religion, color, national origin, age, or physical handicap.
Rabbit Creek Preschool is based in South Anchorage and has announced a move into Rabbit Creek Elementary, with the school year to begin in Fall 2026 at the new location.
