Childcare Resources, based in Birmingham, Alabama, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1984. As Central Alabama’s only child care resource and referral agency, it helps families and providers access and deliver quality early care and education across Jefferson, Shelby, Walker, and Blount counties. The organization assists families in locating child care options and offers financial assistance to low-to-moderate income working households. It provides research-based parent education and supports early learning through a free Early Learning Resource Library and a mobile Resource Library Van.
For child care providers, Childcare Resources delivers professional training, technical assistance, and career support to strengthen program quality and workforce readiness. It also operates Head Start – Great Start services and engages the community to address critical child care needs.
The mission is to make quality care and education of children happen by providing information, education, and assistance to families, providers, and the community.
