About
James Rushton Early Learning Center is an early childhood education center in Birmingham, Alabama’s Woodlawn community, founded in 2017. The center serves infants, toddlers, and preschoolers through age four with a focus on high-quality care, purposeful play, and developmentally appropriate learning. Its approach combines stimulating classrooms, educated teachers, engaged parents, and strong community partnerships to foster curiosity and build lifelong learning habits.
JRELC welcomes families across income levels and cultures and provides clear enrollment guidance and tuition assistance information. To support children’s well-being, the center offers healthy meals and shares weekly menus and nutrition facts through its Chef’s Corner. Families also have access to resources that extend learning and support beyond the classroom.
Rooted in community revitalization efforts and aligned with the Woodlawn Foundation’s cradle-to-career vision, JRELC serves Woodlawn and nearby neighborhoods with safe, nurturing environments and consistent educational standards. The center’s mission is to enhance early learning experiences so children are prepared for the next stage of growth and school readiness.
