South Highland Adult Care Center, also known as South Highland Center, is a non-denominational adult day program in Birmingham, AL. Located within South Highland Presbyterian Church, the center provides structured daytime memory care for adults living with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and other degenerative conditions, while offering supportive services and respite for caregivers.
Open Monday through Friday from 7:15 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., the program emphasizes engagement, safety, and quality of life. Daily schedules include art and music therapy offered four days each week, physical exercise, fine motor and memory activities, and social interaction. Participants also take supervised outings to local destinations such as Birmingham Botanical Gardens, the Birmingham Museum of Art, and the Birmingham Zoo. Hand in Paw visits the campus monthly to provide animal-assisted therapy.
Customized care plans are developed to maximize abilities, promote independence, and foster community. The center shares information on funding assistance opportunities through Alzheimer’s of Central Alabama.
