Founded in 1996, the Academy for Learning and Character Development (ALCD) is a non-profit organization serving Huntsville, Alabama and its surrounding areas. With a mission to provide safe, affordable, high-quality childcare in a developmentally appropriate environment, ALCD caters to disadvantaged preschool and school-age children. Led by Dr. Sylvia Collins, ALCD promotes each child's individual social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development, fostering a lifelong love for learning. Over the past 20 years, Dr. Collins and ALCD have empowered over 1,500 underprivileged children with quality early education.
