About
Desert Sun Child Development Center, founded in 1978 in Chandler, AZ, provides early childhood and primary education for toddlers through third grade. Programs span Toddler–Kindergarten and Primary (1st–3rd Grade) and are guided by a Reggio Emilia–inspired, learn-by-doing approach. Teachers present developmentally appropriate academic content in literacy and math through hands-on experiences that support cognitive, social, emotional, and language development.
The center recognizes parents as a child’s primary educators and encourages active family participation in the learning community. It offers school tours and information on scholarships and financial aid. Desert Sun holds a 5‑Star Quality First rating.
Classrooms emphasize respect and inclusion, with clear behavior objectives appropriate to each age group. When needed, teachers collaborate with families and professionals to create individualized support plans. Established by Peg Brokaw, formerly of Arizona State University’s Child Development Laboratory, Desert Sun has served East Valley families for decades. Families can access program calendars, health and safety guidelines, and resources tailored to both toddler–kinder and primary levels to support continuity of learning.
