About
International School for Peace, founded in 2004 in Tucson, AZ, is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) preschool and Tucson’s first Spanish language immersion program. The school offers full Spanish immersion and partial immersion classes, with partial immersion providing approximately 70% instruction in English and 30% Spanish enrichment. Instruction is play-based and child-centered, aligned to the Arizona Early Learning Standards, and integrates multicultural, anti-bias materials. The program offers enrichment classes and emphasizes peaceful conflict resolution and compassionate communication; staff receive ongoing training to model these skills.
All classrooms incorporate songs, games, and cultural activities to build language and cultural awareness. The campus is inclusive and encourages family participation through classroom volunteering and community events that celebrate diversity with food, music, dance, and storytelling. International School for Peace maintains a non-denominational spiritual focus that highlights shared values across world religions, especially friendship and peace, and partners with St. Francis in the Foothills United Methodist Church. Tours are available by appointment.
