About
Children’s Crisis Center of Stanislaus County, incorporated in 1980, is a private nonprofit that provides child abuse prevention, intervention, and shelter services for children from birth to age 17. Serving Stanislaus County and adjacent communities in Merced and San Joaquin counties, the Center operates five children’s shelters in Modesto, Ceres, Oakdale, and Turlock. Core services include 24-hour emergency shelter, protective (respite) childcare, crisis counseling via its 24/7 FamilyLINE, therapeutic intervention, case management, parental guidance, and educational opportunities that promote school readiness. All services are provided to families free of charge. The organization collaborates with law enforcement, social services, courts, schools, and other partners to coordinate comprehensive support during family crises. More than 7,200 children are served annually, with daily respite shelter capacity and ongoing referrals of new families. The Center’s goal is to intervene early, provide safe, homelike care, and help stabilize family situations so children can remain safe and develop in healthy, supportive environments.
