About
Children’s Home Society of California (CHS), founded in 1891 and based in Los Angeles, CA, helps families find and pay for child care and supports the child care community statewide. CHS administers child care payment assistance and connects parents with licensed providers through Resource and Referral services. It offers early learning education programs, free workshops, and multilingual educational materials for families and caregivers. For child care providers, CHS delivers training, technical assistance, and participation in the Family Child Care Home Education Network (FCCHEN). Eligible individuals may access post-adoption resources, and CHS operates the Emergency Child Care Bridge Program for Foster Children in select counties.
CHS serves the greater Long Beach area of Los Angeles County, Orange County, Ventura County, San Diego County, Yolo County, and Sutter and Yuba Counties. Programs commonly available by office include the Child Care Payment Program (CCPP), Resource and Referral (R&R), and FCCHEN.
Its mission is to reach out to children and families at risk with services that support safe, healthy, and secure development for every child.
