The school was first opened in 1983 as Stepping Stones & Pebbles. It has been owned since 1997 by two former preschool teachers and a parent of children they cared for. Together, the directors have over 50 years of preschool experience. Originally at the Covington school site, the school moved to Grant Park for a few years, Blach Middle School for another 10 years, before arriving in 2015 at the present location between Covington Elementary School and Rosita Park.
We feel Stepping Stones is unique because we are the perfect size (not too large, not too small), we have a beautiful playground, we are located in a quiet residential neighborhood, and we are owner-operated.
Being owner-operated enables the onsite directors to make decisions in the best interest of the children without waiting for approval from an owner or corporation.
