About
Starting Small Family Daycare, founded in 2006 in San Diego, CA, is a licensed, home-based childcare program serving children from birth to age six. Led by child development professional Tammy Stuart, who has worked in early childhood education since 1998, the program combines a small-group setting with a structured, play-based curriculum. Stuart holds multiple associate degrees in early childhood (infant/toddler, master teacher, site supervisor, and teacher), maintains current Red Cross First Aid and Adult/Infant/Child CPR and Preventive Health and Safety certifications, and is infant/toddler trained through the YMCA.
The daycare offers developmentally appropriate, hands-on learning across language and literacy, math and science, arts and crafts, music and movement, puppet theater, outdoor play, gardening, and social-emotional skill building. Extras include yoga, Kid Fit, sensory activities, and baby sign language for infants. Meals are healthy and family-style; diapers, wipes, and formula are provided, and breastfeeding families are supported.
Located on Swan Street (92114), the program operates Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with earlier or later hours available upon request. Evening tours are scheduled for children’s safety. Small group sizes allow for individualized attention in a preschool-like home setting.
