Montessori Prep is a home-based Montessori program in the North Cheyenne Cañon area of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Serving toddlers and early preschoolers (approximately 18 months to three years), it is designed as a transition between home and a larger school environment. A class size limited to six allows each child to receive individualized guidance while engaging in real-life, age-appropriate tasks that build independence, confidence, and respect for self, others, and the environment. Daily experiences include practical life skills, grace and courtesy, nature exploration, art, yoga, early language and sound work, early math quantities, storytelling, music, and song.
The school is owned and led by Sandra Johnson-Benning, an educator with Association Montessori International (AMI) certification and more than 24 years of Montessori experience. Her background includes apprenticing with child and parenting specialist Gail Allen, assisting at The Montessori Center and Parkside Community School in Austin, Texas, and leading a toddler program at Desert Montessori School in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Montessori Prep has served Colorado Springs for over 15 years and integrates complementary approaches such as Waldorf and play-based/experiential learning. Additional offerings include Parent Coaching, Simplicity Parenting, and a Summer Program.
