About
Apparo Academy is a non-profit, faith-based early intervention and education program in Augusta, GA, serving children from 6 weeks through transitional kindergarten in an inclusive, integrated setting. The school delivers a therapeutic education that combines academics with daily, in-class therapy and a low student-to-teacher ratio—three teachers for no more than ten students per classroom. Apparo utilizes the Frog Street curriculum, a comprehensive, dual-language program with research-based scope and sequence, differentiated strategies, and adaptations for special needs, and it integrates a Bible curriculum for early childhood learning. Full-time onsite nursing care is provided by a registered nurse employed by the Children’s Hospital of Georgia.
Apparo Academy also operates a Therapy Clinic available to both enrolled and non-enrolled children. Services include speech and language therapy, feeding therapy, occupational therapy, sensory integration therapy, physical therapy, and access to an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) lab. Therapies are provided within classrooms and in the clinic to support collaboration between therapists and teachers and to promote skill carryover. As a 501(c)(3) organization, Apparo partners with families to help children build communication, motor, sensory, and self-care skills needed for success at school, at home, and in the community.
