First United Methodist Church Preschool, based in Honolulu, HI, has served families since 1971 with Christian early childhood education for children ages 2 to 5. The preschool is a 501(c)(3) organization, licensed by the State of Hawai‘i and accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs for meeting nationally recognized criteria for high-quality early childhood programs.
The educational program is grounded in Piaget’s theory and emphasizes hands-on learning. Daily activities support socialization; large and small motor development; creative and dramatic play; language growth; and foundational pre-reading and math skills. Christian faith is integrated through teacher-student interactions, modeling of Christian behavior, and reinforcement through prayer, Bible stories and verses, songs, and celebrations.
Two-year-olds may enroll without being toilet trained. The school operates year-round from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. First United Methodist Church Preschool functions as a ministry of First United Methodist Church of Honolulu.
