PATCH (People Attentive To Children), founded in 1976 and based in Honolulu, HI, is Hawaii’s statewide Child Care Resource and Referral agency. The organization helps families and providers access and improve licensed child care across the islands. For families, PATCH offers free referrals to registered and licensed providers, guidance on how to search for and evaluate care, and information on paying for child care, including subsidy options. It provides financial assistance to eligible families through the Preschool Open Doors program.
For providers, PATCH delivers child development training, early childhood education scholarships, and professional development resources, including the Early Childhood Registry, CDA and CDA Pathways Program, CQI – Maui, and the Hawaiʻi Early Learning Platform (H.E.L.P.). It also assists individuals in starting licensed family child care businesses and shares practical tools such as a Monthly Nutrition Newsletter.
PATCH is a member of Child Care Aware of America, and many of its services are offered in partnership with the State of Hawaii Department of Human Services. Its mission is to support and improve the quality and availability of care for the young people of Hawaiʻi.
