Little Explorers Learning Center is an early learning and childcare program in downtown Wichita, KS, located at 530 E. Douglas and serving infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. The center operates Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and is closed on weekends and Federal Reserve holidays.
Age-based classrooms build skills progressively from infancy through pre-K. The curriculum, developed by an owner with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, emphasizes fine and gross motor development, social skills, and early academics in handwriting, math, science, art, and reading. Infants focus on motor milestones, tummy time, sign language, and routines; toddlers and preschoolers expand to ABCs, numbers, shapes, colors, pencil grip, basic math and literacy, and kindergarten readiness activities such as name writing, calendar, and weather. Daily outdoor play follows a posted weather chart.
Safety and communication are prioritized. Families use a secure, individually coded entry; classrooms are monitored by security cameras; and attendance is tracked with check-in computers. Staff complete CPR/First Aid, Foundations, and SIDS training, follow emergency procedures, and meet KDHE requirements with 16 hours of annual in-service training. Parents receive real-time updates through the Procare app. The program uses positive reinforcement and redirection, with a behavior management plan available as needed, and accepts DCF.
