Providence Montessori School is an independent Montessori school in Lexington, Kentucky, serving children ages 18 months to 14 years across a continuum of Toddler (18–36 months), Primary (3–6 years), Lower Elementary (6–9 years), Upper Elementary (9–12 years), and Middle School (12–14 years). The school is the oldest Montessori school in Kentucky and the only American Montessori Society accredited school in Central Kentucky, educating close to 300 students on two campuses: the Lower Campus at 1209 Texaco Road and the Middle School Campus at 519 West Fourth Street in Lexington.
Rooted in Montessori philosophy and supported by current research in education and human development, Providence emphasizes individualized learning, whole-child development, and student choice and movement to foster independence and confidence. Classrooms are designed to meet each child’s developmental needs and allow students to progress at their own pace. The program includes robust enrichment in art, library, Spanish, music, physical education, technology, and environmental studies, along with before- and after-school care and a Summer Camp with the Arts. The school also prioritizes community through close collaboration among students, guides, and families, parent education opportunities, and school-wide engagement.
