About
The Hearing & Speech Center, founded in 1960 in Lexington, KY, is a private nonprofit that provides treatment and education for people with hearing and speech needs. With more than 65 years of experience, it serves children from infancy through adolescence and adults across over 70 Kentucky counties. Its Audiology Clinic offers comprehensive hearing care for all ages, including diagnostic hearing tests (with an online screening option), newborn hearing screenings, hearing aids, fitting and counseling, device service and repairs, pediatric hearing aids, and cochlear implant evaluations and support. The Speech-Language Pathology Clinic provides speech-language evaluations, therapy, and auditory-verbal therapy. Education programs through the Early Learning Center and Day School include preschool, kindergarten, and a preschool for children who are deaf or hard of hearing. The organization also offers parent education and training for school systems. Established by Edie and Jimmy Frankel and originally known as the Lexington Deaf Oral School, The Hearing & Speech Center has grown into a community resource that integrates clinical and educational services to help children develop listening and spoken language and to support adults in managing hearing and communication needs.
