Island Kids is a Roosevelt Island–based youth organization in New York, NY, serving the community since the 1980s. It provides structured, nurturing after-school care for children in 3K through 3rd grade during the school year, with options for 3–5 day enrollment and 1–2 day drop-in. A typical day runs 2:40–6:30 PM and includes school pickup, snack, enrichment activities, homework time, and outdoor or free-choice play. Program sites are PS/IS 217 (645 Main Street) for 3K–Kindergarten and the Good Shepherd Community Center (543 Main Street) for 1st–3rd grade, with pickup available from the Roosevelt Island Day Nursery.
Tuition is available as annual plans with a 10% discount for 3–5 day enrollments, monthly plans, and a per-day drop-in rate, and a scholarship application is offered. Island Kids also runs mini camps on select school-closure days and covers all PS/IS 217 half days. Summer camp programming is available.
