TEACH Early Childhood Nevada, based in Reno, Nevada, has supported the state’s early childhood workforce since 2004. Licensed through the national Teacher Education and Compensation Helps (TEACH) initiative, the program provides comprehensive, debt-free scholarships to early childhood educators employed in child care and early learning programs. Scholarships cover approved coursework with upfront payment of tuition and fees, reimburse 80% of textbook costs with itemized receipts, include a travel stipend, and offer structured Release Time; participating centers are reimbursed for 80% of time claimed at $13.50 per hour. The program partners with employers and provides on-site orientations to help centers understand participation and benefits.
TEACH Nevada works with Nevada’s higher education institutions, including the College of Southern Nevada, Great Basin College, Truckee Meadows Community College, Western Nevada College, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and the University of Nevada, Reno. Scholarships are funded by the Nevada Department of Education, Office of Early Learning and Development. Since launch in Nevada, hundreds of educators have advanced their credentials through TEACH, including 162 recipients in fiscal year 2024, with 14 graduates, participation from 94 employers, average GPAs of 3.51 (associate) and 3.57 (bachelor), and an average 11.9% wage increase. TEACH Early Childhood Nevada serves educators statewide from its Reno headquarters.
