About
John Heinz Child Development Center, founded in 1992 and based in Pittsburgh, PA, provides licensed child care and early childhood education for children 12 months to five years old. Located at 2001 Wyandotte St., the center has been licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services since February 2000 and holds a 4 out of 4 Keystone STARS rating. JHCDC operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm.
Programs are organized into three classrooms with defined child-to-staff ratios: Toddler 1 (12–24 months, 5:1), Toddler 2 (ages 2–3, 6:1), and Preschool (ages 3–5, at least 1:10). The curriculum emphasizes growing independence, social development, and foundational knowledge in a multicultural setting where differences are respected and multiple languages are taught.
The center supports families with clear information on admissions and pricing, scholarships (including for those not eligible for government subsidies), required paperwork, and connections to community partners. Additional assistance is available through the Jubilee Association’s services. JHCDC’s goal is to deliver high-quality, affordable care that prepares children for school and supports parents with reliable, accessible early education.
