Montessori Academy of Virginia, founded in 1996 and based in Virginia Beach, VA, is a state-licensed Montessori school serving the Hampton Roads region with campuses in Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, and Suffolk. It offers authentic Montessori education for children 16 months through 5th grade and serves more than 400 students. The academy is affiliated with the International Montessori Society and accredited by the Better Business Bureau.
Each purpose-built campus exceeds 10,000 square feet on more than an acre and features spacious classrooms with private bathrooms, child-friendly libraries, STEM rooms, gymnasiums, lunchrooms, and gardens. Security includes password-protected keypad entry and an automated check-in/checkout system. Classrooms are led by certified Montessori educators and use traditional Montessori materials with a structured curriculum to foster curiosity, independence, language and literacy development, and critical thinking while meeting or exceeding Virginia Standards of Learning.
Programs include Toddler, Preschool, Pre-K & Kindergarten, Lower Elementary, Upper Elementary, and Summer Camp. Learning extends outdoors through Montessori Acres, the academy’s private farmstead and garden that supports hands-on, nature-based study and organic gardening. Care options include Morning Care (7:00–8:00 AM), the School Day (8:00 AM–3:00 PM), and After Care (3:30–5:00 PM).
