About
Pinehurst Child Care Center is a licensed, non-profit early learning program in Seattle, WA, serving children from one month to five years with infant care and preschool. Founded in 1982, it operates in the Wedgewood neighborhood and is part of Pinehurst Schools, a chapter of Sound Child Care Solutions (SCCS) since 2010, which provides shared services that support culturally relevant programming and family communication.
The center uses a play-based approach grounded in child development research and maintains an anti-bias, culturally responsive environment. Program goals include supporting social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development; fostering self-esteem and self-reliance; and ensuring a safe, respectful setting.
Families are engaged as partners through ongoing communication, including conversations, notes, conferences, journals, posted curriculum plans, and center-wide gatherings held at least twice per year. Stable teacher-child relationships and consistent routines guide daily practice. Pinehurst Child Care Center is one of three Pinehurst Schools programs serving Seattle families and is led by Center Director Lanetria Luevano.
